There is a little patio, which is nice to eat at in warmer months. It’s preferable to sit in the front section of the restaurant, as the booths along the kitchen and the back room are generally too hot. Read more review from restaurantica.com
My boyfriend and I decided to have brunch “somewhere on Roncesvalles”. We knew there would be lots of options, but I wasn’t expecting to find a place as amazing as Sunrise! The restaurant is everything I look for in a brunch place: cheap and cheerful, with a good crowd and decent service. It’s the type of place that’s cool but not trendy, and is busy, but somehow never seems crowded. The menu is really vast, so if you’re looking for an omelet, basic egg breakfast, or even a burger, you’re in luck. However, in my humble opinion, the best things on the menu are all of the different types of French toast. I ordered the strawberry version, which came topped with a huge pile of fresh strawberries and almonds. The entire plate was covered in an assortment of fresh fruit, including bananas, kiwis, oranges, and grapes. It was a really nice change from greasy eggs and meat! If you want something more savoury, the kielbasa sausage omelet is excellent. Read more review from Yelp.ca
Best of all, the prices are reasonable and you don’t need to line up or wait to get seated. Read more review from ourfaves.com
As I sit here immediately following the wonderful breakfast I just enjoyed, I think to myself that in this digital-media-infused age, the best way to express my appreciation for Sunrise and all the staff here would be to share them with people who love experiencing great food, but who may never have had the joy of dining here.
A small an cozy restaurant with a very casual atmosphere, the service typically strikes a good balance between efficient and courteous. The staff are always sincerely welcoming, and seem to function well, presenting themselves as close as a well-functioning family. Price points = economical-to-moderate.
The casualness of the space refreshingly does not interfere with the quality of the food, which has always been fresh, piping hot, flavourful, and–most importantly to me–cooked to order. I’m extremely particular about egg whites having to be fully cooked without rendering the yolk a hardened mass of light yellow protein, and it is refreshing to come across a breakfast space in Toronto that can consistently accomplish this without making me feel like an nuisance for my particularity! The menu is often updated with new and interesting breakfast items, not one of which I’ve been disappointed with, and some of which I return specifically for.
I have been frequenting Sunrise Grill & Crepe – located on the north end of Roncesvalles, specifically 417 Roncesvalles Avenue–for approximately 4 years. The reason I choose to write this now is because I, myself, have a lengthy hospitality background, and what strikes me most about Sunrise at this point is the constant incremental improvement with the quality of both the food and service. This is rare to witness and a fantastic balance for the restaurant to have achieved, as it keeps me coming back, and will ensure new clientele for them, I’m certain!
I am honoured to be a recognized and welcomed patron of the restaurant, and I wish them all the best!
